In 2012, more than 175 million tweets were sent every day. The average Twitter user has sent 307 tweets and has 51 followers. Fifty percent of the site’s users access the platform from a mobile device. Suggestions by friends significantly influence user activity with 69 percent of follows resulting from a recommendation by a friend.
