Attend Sync Up 2013: The Entertainment Industry’s Top Gathering that Covers Digital Marketing -April 26-27 and May 3-4 at the New Orleans Museum of Art
If you are planning to be in New Orleans on the weekends of April 26-27, or May 3-4, Infintech Designs encourages you to register for Sync Up. Sync Up is a renowned entertainment industry conference that is free to those who register. Spots at the conference are limited, so be sure to register as soon as you can to secure your place. The conference coincides with New Orleans’ famous Jazz Fest, and is presented by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, the non-profit organization that owns and runs Jazz Fest.
The Sync Up conference is New Orleans’ premier gathering for music, film and technology. Topics discussed will include touring, licensing, and digital marketing. Speakers include entertainment industry professionals and independent artists. As a few examples, past Sync Up conferences have featured a fabulous group of leaders in the music industry, including the founder of the online music service Pandora, Tim Westergren; the founder and CEO of MOFILM, which is the world’s largest creator of crowd-sourced advertising, Jeffrey Merrihue; and the man credited as one of the founders of the modern mobile entertainment industry, Ralph Simon.
Sync Up is more than a traditional conference. It is a conference with the excitement and pizazz you would expect from the entertainment industry. In true New Orleans spirit, attendees often have a Bloody Mary or two—or coffee if they’re more traditional—during educational keynote addresses and panel discussions. After the usual conference events, attendees are encouraged to head over to Jazz Fest, which is just a short walk from the conference.
The conference generally focuses on entertainers’ careers and what is involved in developing those careers through digital media, touring, and distribution. Sync Up takes place at the New Orleans Museum of Art, just a hop, skip and a jump away from Jazz Fest. If you’re unable to attend the conference in person, it will be streamed live through radio station WWOZ’s website.
The organizer of Sync Up, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, was started in 1970. The Foundation’s original goal was to establish the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, known to music lovers across the world as Jazz Fest. The Foundation strives to showcase New Orleans’ original culture to future generations.
With the dedication of the Foundation, Jazz Fest, and its associated events like Sync Up, has become world-famous as it is known today. Thousands upon thousands of visitors are drawn to New Orleans for the festival and it is estimated that $300 million is injected into the New Orleans economy each year as a result. It is often said that there were fewer people in the audience than there were performers onstage at the first Jazz Fest.
As the nonprofit owner of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival—Jazz Fest—the Jazz & Heritage Foundation does not stop once the festival is over. The Foundation is active year round and offers educational programs and programs in economic development, along with cultural events.
In bringing together two aspects of entertainment—music and movies—Sync Up Cinema will feature a series of film screenings as part of the conference. Movies will focus on the culture and people of Louisiana and the New Orleans area, and will feature talent from the local region.
