When Should a SEO Campaign End?

All websites on the internet need some form of getting traffic. One of the most powerful ways to do this is through a Search Engine Optimization or SEO campaign. This is the process of optimizing a website so that it gets better ranking positions on search engines based on a particular keyword. The goal is that anytime a person types in the targeted keyword of the website, it shows up as the number 1 result. This greatly increases traffic of any site on the internet. Basically there are two parts to this.

First part of any campaign to gain traffic through search engines is to optimize the code and structure of the website. The goal here is to make the web design much more enticing not only to the readers, but to search engines as well. They like certain ways of coding and web structure. By following what they like, the site will have an easier time to get to the top.

The second part of any SEO campaign is spreading links throughout the internet. By doing this, you get two positive effects. First, other people can directly get to the website through these scattered links. Second, and more important, the algorithm of search engines take into account how many links that goes to a website for its ranking. Each link is considered as a “vote”. The more links, the better in an SEO point of view.

With this information on hand, some people basically think that once they spread their links and get that number spot, the job is done. For most people, the end of any campaign is when they get to a ranking they are comfortable with. The fact of the matter is, an SEO campaign should not end.

As any Search Engine Optimization specialist would tell you, this is a field where the learning never stops, because the work never stops. You should not be contented that your website is already on the number 1 ranking on search engine results. There will always be a chance that another website vamping up their marketing and link building campaigns would overtake your position. There is no rest for the weary in this day and age. Everyone wants to make money in the world of internet business and they will do everything in their power to get that number 1 ranking. Once you’re there, only half of the fight is over. You are now at the top of the mountain, so it’s time to prepare to defend it.

It is not always easy to do SEO, most of the time you will end up making mistakes in creating or implementing your campaign. Sometimes, the smallest hiccup can completely destroy everything you have built. Don’t let this happen to you. Don’t get contented with your efforts. If you want to stay on top, you have to keep on fighting because it only gets harder from here on.
